II/56 D.C. Schroth Organ Builders, Opus 3, based on Bennett Organ Co., 1924 and Eugene Ward, 1967
The good sisters at Monastery Immaculate Conception have involved us in the care of their instrument for several years. Originally built by Marshall Benett in 1925, the organ was rebuilt by local monk Eugene Ward
in 1967. The 1967 mechanisms were no longer reliable, and given the expense of re-wiring the whole organ, we proposed a larger-scale project which would provide an instrument with a more complete tonal palette, along with a more robust mechanical disposition.
As in our other projects, we are allowing the very nice tonal provisions of the current installation to shine through, while bringing some much-needed additions to the table to add richness to the tonal palette.
