Following extensive water penetration into the Swell chamber, we were contracted to replace the original Kilgen chests (which had previously been converted to electro-mechanical actions). We used this opportunity to improve upon the situation, installing electro-pneumatic slider chests for the chorus work and returning the reeds to play on pneumatic unit chests. Through judicious voicing and re-working of some of the previously-added pipework, the organ now possesses a complete flute chorus, and bold fundamental ranks which provide a much-needed underpinning to the organ in this acoustically-resplendent space. We also rebuilt the three stopped wood flutes.
